NPower’s Technology Service Corps Trains Veterans for IT Jobs
NPower’s Technology Service Corps is an innovative, veterans-focused job training program that educates veterans on technology and professional skills to succeed in the workforce. The comprehensive program provides technical training, skill development, mentorship, apprenticeships, and job placement in the STEM sector.
“Vacancies in corporate IT departments grow on a monthly basis. NPower’s Technology Service Corps program has been designed specifically to help our veterans get the skills they need for today’s growing tech market,” said NPower’s Dallas Regional Director, Kris Falvo.
Since the program began in 2002, it has served over 800 underserved young adults and veterans, 80% of whom go on to receive job offers, or pursue higher education within just one year of their program completion. NPower is also set to launch an identical program headed out of San Francisco’s College of San Mateo by the end of the year. The San Francisco program will target its services specifically towards returning vets.
Current and past technology Services Corps partners include top companies, including Bank of America, Citi, Deloitte, Ameritrade, and a selection of other notable tech and STEM industry leaders.
The program lasts for six months and includes 12 weeks of IT training, one week of specialty training, and a seven week paid apprenticeship. Students also enjoy site-visits, and guest speakers.
